What Is an Epoxy Flooring Coating?
Epoxy floors are durable and versatile flooring solutions made from epoxy resin and hardeners. They are commonly used in industrial, commercial, and residential settings for their seamless, high-gloss finish and chemical-resistant properties. Epoxy floors are applied as liquid coatings to concrete floors to create a protective, decorative, and low-maintenance surface. They come in a variety of colors and finishes, offering a visually appealing and customizable flooring option. Epoxy floors provide a durable and long-lasting solution for areas that require a strong, hard-wearing surface, such as garages, warehouses, showrooms, and manufacturing facilities.
At National Floor Solutions, we specialize in flake epoxy flooring. Give your garage floor a facelift with endless options.
Our South Florida epoxy flooring services provide personalization like never before. Flake Epoxy Application Process
Grind the floor to a flat surface leaving a rough profile for bonding.
Fill & Repair any cracks, joints, holes or imperfections.
Apply a first “bond coat” that will seal and cover the entire area in a color that complements the flakes to be applied. This is typically grey or tan for garage floors.
Apply another layer of bond coating and while still wet begin the great “flake toss,” broadcasting desired blend of flake chips until you’ve covered the entire floor or they stop sticking to the epoxy due to full coverage of chips.
Allow time for curing and removal of excess chips.
Two options are available for the final coat. Epoxy, which will give a clear coat finish but scratches easily, or a polyurethane or ployaspartic coating that is durable and scratch resistant but lacks the clarity of a clear coat epoxy.
